The new eNook from Anthro has received the Gold Award in the Alternative Office category in the Best of NeoCon Competition 2006.
eNook is a multi-talented
wall mounted desk that creates a “home” for portable digital consumer products such as a laptop, cell phones, PDAs, and digital cameras. This wall mounted charging station has channels to plug in and charge electronic gadgetry that seem to consume all available surfaces and electrical outlets in work and home environments. Flip the desk shelf up to close and store gear out of sight; flip it down to reveal a writing surface, and a fabric covered back panel that serves as a bulletin board, which is offered in four color scenarios to match any decor.
eNook is a wall mounted workspace that makes the most of limited space, and is ideal as a nursing station, in small rooms, or studio apartments. When closed, it extends only a few inches from the wall. With a simple press of the push-to-open magnetic door latch, the ¾” thick work surface safely eases down a 30”W workspace that is deep enough to accommodate a laptop computer, mouse, and a notepad.
Accessories can be added to customize eNook. Several peripheral perches will enhance storage space for items such as cell phones, PDA’s, and cameras. A power strip can be attached inside the flip down electronics door area to provide seven outlets for charging the electronic equipment.
eNook has built-in ventilation to protect electronic equipment from over-heating, and an integrated cable management to keep cables out of the way and out of sight, with an accessible power and cable storage area at the bottom of the unit, for quick access. The laptop can be safely stored in the laptop storage tray provided.
The wall mounted unit is 35” wide, and can be placed anywhere there is a stud in the wall. The flexible wall attachment can be easily mounted at either a sitting or a standing height, and can be slightly adjusted after mounting to ensure proper placement.
eNook’s work surface is made of ¾” medium density Fiberboard, with a smooth painted finish and safe rounded edges, and will hold up to 50 lbs. The eNook structure easily holds up to 45 lbs. It comes standard with extruded side rails, wall attachments, a flip-down electronics door with a lock, a fabric wrapped tack board, a magnetic door catch, a lock, and a laptop storage tray.
