Anthro Corporation, the Portland, Oregon, manufacturer of ergonomic furniture for technology, was selected for the fifth time by “Working Dog Magazine” as winner of their Pioneer Award. Created to recognize an organization that opens its workforce to dogs, the Pioneer Award in 2010 sites Anthro’s Dolly and Ruffles, two pugs on the company’s Customer Service Team.
“Dolly and Ruffles have been an inspiring addition to our team. Overcoming the language barrier, for one thing, has really opened all our eyes to the human-centric bias that’s so pervasive in society today,” says Tina Griffels-Gonzalez, Customer Service Manager. “We really feel like pioneers!”
Anthro credits the success of Dolly and Ruffles’ integration to the “see-no-barriers” attitude of each and every team member in the company. “Sure, they’re short. They’re furry. They snore. But they get their teeth into a problem and they just don’t let go. They’re tenacious. And we can all learn something from them,” says HR Manager Jan Cade.
