Once a year we gather to celebrate our achievements as a company on Anthro’s birthday. Bundled in layers of AnthroGear and wired from large cups of coffee, we reminisce about the year gone by and get excited about the milestones right around the corner. Here’s a peek behind the scenes from Anthro’s 28th birthday party.
Food! If there’s one thing that unites all of us, it’s the love of bacon. From James and Patrick in Receiving to tiny Denise in Accounting, You wouldn’t believe how excited everyone gets over this savory treat. Apparently it wasn’t his first choice though as Patrick was overheard exclaiming in dismay “There’s no Spam?!?”
Say “Cheese!” To avoid cheesy smiles that remind us of school photos, employees are encouraged to ham it up when the camera points their way. Joe took this to heart. What can we say, we’re friendly at Anthro. Real friendly.
Trivia, Anthro Style There’s tough competition at Anthro for Blazer tickets. Many folks participate in a trivia game to win these coveted prizes. One would expect the typical questions on topics like sports, history, geography, etc. Only at Anthro would there be questions like “How many oak trees are on Anthro’s property?” and “How many fingers am I holding up behind my back?”
Suit Yourself Our fearless co-founder, Cathy, recalled when and where she met Anthro’s president and co-founder, Shoaib, for the first time. She even wore the same suit as she did that memorable day almost 30 years ago. We were all impressed that a) she still has the suit and b) that it still fits her perfectly.
Presents
A birthday party isn’t complete without gifts. Marama, Shanan and Karen look very happy about the new employee benefits. Not sure if these smiles were from a bacon-induced euphoria, but Kevin and Scott appear to share their excitement.
The Board A picture board is created each year to commemorate Anthro’s anniversary. Just like your family scrapbook, there are snapshots of folks caught trying to eat their food while Mom (or in our case, HR) tries to capture action shots. Good times.
There’s one in every crowd. Someone who takes the opportunity to make the most of the moment. Marty (Logistics) is one of those people. Check out his antics in the front row as we prep for the annual company photo.
