Anthro has been designing and manufacturing furniture for technology right here in Tualatin, Oregon since 1984. Here’s an inside look at how our award-winning Tablet Charging Cart is manufactured from start to finish.
The birth of Anthro’s Tablet Charging Cart starts in Metal Fab. All the cart’s metal pieces are cut out of a sheet of steel, and sent to the laser punch machine for perforation. They are then bent, welded and fashioned into their final shape.
Once the metal parts of the Tablet Charging Cart are fully formed, they’re directed to Powder where they’re painted the selected color. We use powder coating for many important reasons: it’s resistant to chipping and scratching, it’s colorfast, and the paint powder can be reused and recycled.
Next, we head to Tops, where the Tablet Charging Cart’s top is cut out of a medium density fiber board. The formed shelf is then put into the membrane press machine, which leaves a smooth, seamless, fully sculpted covering over the top.
A crucial part of the process, Wiring is where the cart’s electrical system is put together. The cart’s control panel is assembled here, and all outlets, cords and wiring are tested individually. Nothing leaves Wiring without being ISO-tested and approved, ensuring the cart’s utmost functionality and safety.
Now it’s time for Assembly, where all the pieces of the pie come together! The powder-coated metal, membrane-pressed top, electrical system, bays, handle and casters are all assembled into a ready-to-use Tablet Charging Cart.
Last but certainly not least, the Shipping team gets the fully assembled Tablet Charging Cart out of the plant and off to the customer!
