Moving more during the day is easier than it sounds, especially with all of our resources at your disposal. Read the blog posts for ideas, listen to the playlists for energy, watch the videos for a laugh, use the calculators to set goals, and download the apps to keep yourself on track.
1 – Walk This Way …
Our brains aren’t conditioned to work for long periods, so take a break at least once every hour. Walk to the bathroom that’s farthest away from your desk. Walk around while you make a phone call. Walk over to your friend’s cubicle to catch up. Walk to get lunch, or to fill up your water bottle. Make the most of these little opportunities to get moving. Pretty soon, it will be completely ordinary for you to have walking meetings outside in the sunshine. Watch this TED2013 talk

2– There’s An App for That!
You use apps for everything these days– to wake up, check email, share photos, find directions, and on and on. It’s only natural to use apps to help you stay healthy, too. Luckily, there are literally thousands of apps dedicated to doing just that.
Here is one of our favorites, Moves
, a free app that uses sensors and location information to track your every move, whether walking, cycling or running. It will help you get a better idea of how much… or how little…. you’re moving throughout the day. No more self-deception about your couch potato ways.
3 – Get Your Groove On
It’s 2 pm. You just ate lunch, and now an afternoon lull has taken control of your body. You pour another cup of coffee but still can’t seem to snap out of it. We’ve all been there. But don’t give up yet! Try this instead: Plug in your headphones and play your favorite upbeat tunes. That’ll get you moving. You’ll naturally fidget, move and sway when listening to music. Who knows, you just might find yourself dancing like there’s nobody watching!
